Description:

·         OXIstrip is a test detecting the presence of the cytochrome oxidase activity of microorganisms. The test is based on the reaction of N,N-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene diamine and α-naphtol with the microbial cytochrome oxidase, which results in the production of indophenol blue. Cytochrome oxidase activity is present e.g. in the Neisseria and Pseudomonas genera. The test is suitable for screening examinations and for the identification of suspect microbial colonies.

·         The result of the reaction is read after 1 min.

·         Shelf life: 24 months.

·         Microbiological diagnostic test for rapid identification of cytochrome oxidase activity of microorganisms.

Brief assay procedure:

1.       Wipe several bacterial colonies from a Petri dish using the active paper zone of the diagnostic strip.

2.       Read the result after 1 min.

3.       Evaluate results.
